Consultation workshop on enter-educative audio-visual material held

Participants in a consultation workshop organised in Lalitpur emphasised on the need of developing enter-educative audio-visual material that helps in increasing accountability and raise citizen awareness in governance issues.

Consultation Workshop for Developing Enter-educative Audio-visual Product on Anti-corruption and Good Governance under the project Strengthening Citizen Engagement in Anti-Corruption Efforts (STREAC) was held on 29 June in Lalitpur. Speaking during programme, participants gave feedback to enter-educative TV programme “Sidha Bato” (The Right Way) and provided ideas and suggestions for the next programme.

Project Director Dr Pius Mishra shared experiences and challenges faced during the implementation of STREAC project and expressed satisfaction on smooth functioning despite some minor hiccups. He said that the project has received positive feedback and it is somehow successful in enhancing citizen engagement in governance issues.

Participants in the programme identified issues including corruption in labour migration, education sector, corruption based on contacts, corruption in handing out green stickers to smoke-emitting old vehicles and hidden corruption at policy level. While providing feedback to the TV programme screened during the event, participants suggested showing women in a decision-making and influential position.

The programme was jointly organised by Center for Media Freedom, Development Communication Society Nepal and Nepal Centre for Contemporary Research and supported by Governance Facility.
